Welcome to KINE 1301 - Foundations of Kinesiology. This course is designed to acquaint you with information about many of the distinct yet connected disciplines that make up the world of Kinesiology. We will cover important parts of the history of this field of study, the sociology and psychology of sport and exercise, and learn about the careers in Kinesiology.

This is an online class and gives you much freedom in terms of when and where you do your work. You should realize, though, that it can be easy to overlook or neglect an online assignment because you aren't going to a classroom and being reminded about those assignments. You really have to carve out a dedicated time on one or more days of the week - every week - to take care of your class business.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All four of the quizzes in this course, the Midterm Exam, and the Final Exam must be taken at a Navarro College Testing Center!!! There are no exceptions to this policy. Most of you will use the Corsicana campus site in the basement of the Gooch, but you can also use the testing centers at the Midlothian, Waxahachie, or Mexia campus as well.

Much of your work will be done from the Modules Tab. Click on it and work through each module in sequential order as they appear. There is also much useful information contained in the other tabs on the side of this Canvas page. Click on the "files" tab to find and look over the syllabus prior to the first day of class.

You'll need the textbook. It's available at the college bookstore or you can order it online from the publisher or another buying service such as Amazon. Here's what it looks like.

As noted above, each week you will complete your learning assignments by working through the Module for that particular week. The first two Modules appear below and can also be accessed by clicking here or on the Modules tab.
