Our founding fathers created a system of government that relies on Representative Democracy. Many American voters do not understand exactly what our representatives do.  Use the "Interactive Learning module" link to work the "How a Member Decides to Vote" . (Links to an external site.) (Links to an external site.) Using the material presented in the learning module, answer the short-answer questions about the experience.

How a Member Decides to Vote:  In this quiz you need to report your experiences as you participated in the activity.  Be specific. Describe the different viewpoints presented regarding the issue of the "flag amendment" that is presented in the module and report what you thought about those viewpoints. Be specific. For example your answers should report “Who said What and Why” regarding the issues.

Questions:

  1. Who did you meet with and what did they say??  Do you agree or not? A good answer will discuss the top 2 competing arguments you heard (pro and con sides). (25%)
  2. How did you vote? Why? (25%)
  3. Discuss whether you voted as a Trustee or Delegate Representative. Why do you favor that philosophy? Research to learn more about these types of representation. (25%)
  4. What did you learn? Did the activity cause you to become more concerned about the viewpoints of others? Do you have any comments about the process? (25%)

You will open the quiz below and write your short answers in the textboxes provided. Usually, a few sentences or a couple of paragraphs will suffice for each.

If the question has multiple parts, make sure to address each part in your answer.

Remember, this is a major grade, so take it seriously. It will be graded rigorously.
