The Midterm and Final Exams will be proctored in the course.

Please be advised that there are expectations of you while taking the exams. See below.

Please be aware that exams using the Respondus LockDown Browser & Monitor are not valid until reviewed by the instructor. If an exam is not validated by the instructor, the exam must be re-taken in a NC testing center. All future major exams for the course must then be taken at a NC testing center also. Exams are invalidated for a variety of reasons (explained below). Students are responsible for creating a secure testing environment.

Things to avoid invalid exams… Students must ensure the following:

Exams must be taken in a quiet environment.
The volume on your webcam MUST be turned up all the way. Video footage with no audio will NOT be accepted and the exam must be retaken in a testing center.
Students MUST present a photo ID. If no ID is presented (clearly), the student will be required to retake the exam in a testing center.
Exams must reflect that the test taker is alone.
Exams must ensure that the only screen in the room is the computer screen where the exam is being taken. No cell phones, televisions, tablets, or other computer screens of any kind are allowed.
Students must ensure that the entire upper body and whole face are always in full view of the video camera during the exam. Exams that do not meet this requirement will be required to be retaken at a testing center.
Exam video must reflect that students are not receiving any outside assistance at all.

When/If the instructor suspects academic dishonesty the exam must be retaken at a testing center. All future major exams for the course may be required to be taken in the testing center also.

Students must ensure that the exam video is clear and easily viewed by the instructor. Webcam lenses need to be cleaned to ensure a clear view.
A well lit room is required, BUT do not sit directly in front of a window as the glare makes it hard to see the student.
Students must not wear headphones or use listening devices of any kind when taking exams. Any student found to have/use any of these will be required to retake the exam in the testing center.
Hoodies, masks, hats, sunglasses or any head coverings are not permitted during the exams. Any student who has these on during the exam will be required to retake the exam in a NC testing center.
Students are required to keep their eyes on the computer monitor while taking the exam. There is no reason for students to be looking anywhere else during the exam. Students who look away from the screen more than 5 times will be required to retake the exam at a NC testing center
Students are required to show themselves putting their phone away from them AT THE BEGINNING OF THE EXAM after you hit start. Do NOT do it before the exam has begun...do it when you begin the exam. I should be able to see the phone while you take the test. Students who do not show themselves putting the phone away will be required to retake the exam in a testing center.
Students who do not follow these instructions and have to retake an exam in the testing center forfeit any potential curves on the exams.
