DISTANCES IN SPACE

In this lab, you will convert the distance to several stars from parsecs, to light years, and to astronomical units.

Astronomical Unit (AU) = The average distance between Earth and the Sun.

LaTeX: 1\:AU\:=\:150,000,000\:km\:=\:93,000,000\:miles

Light Year (ly) = The distance that light travels in one year.

LaTeX: 1\:ly\:=\:63,240\:AU\:=\:6,000,000,000,000\:miles\:=\:9,460,000,000,000\:km

Parsec (pc) = The distance at which one astronomical unit subtends an angle of one arcsecond.

LaTeX: 1\:pc\:=3.26\:ly\:=30,900,000,000,000\:km\:=\:19,500,000,000,000\:miles
